Isabel is a Welsh animation director known for creating tactile stop-motion films which are surreal, subversive and laced with a dark sense of humour.
Her latest short, ‘Listen to me Sing’ is a love story between a downtrodden hotel performer and a stray walrus which screened at London Short Film Festival, Leeds, Tricky Women, Poitiers and many more, picking up several awards along the way including ‘Best Animation’ at the BAFTA qualifying Underwire Festival. Philip Ilson, director of LSFF describes it as; “This surreal and spectacular animation goes to places unexpected and thrilling, involving a singing walrus! The craziness of the story keeps us watching, but the quality of the models and lighting show a stunning dedication to the animation craft to create new and surprising worlds”
In 2020 Isabel directed a series of animations for the BBC 2 production ‘Out of Her Mind’, written by and starring Sara Pascoe. Her client list includes Great Ormond Street Hospital, Channel 4, London School of Economics and the Royal Society.
Isabel is an alumna of the National Film and Television School and artist in residence at Alexander McQueen’s Sarabande Foundation.
