Santiago Sierra Soler is a photographer, filmmaker, and creative director whose work is inspired by his fascination with various cultures, nature, and indigenous traditions.
After studying art direction and photography in Australia, the Mexico City native moved to the United States to pursue his master’s degree and study new technologies and communication strategies in the advertising industry. Not long after graduating, Santiago moved to New York City and quickly established relationships with world-renowned fashion photographers. In 2010, he formalized his creative partnership with his brother Mauricio and the duo began creating innovative work across the mediums of art, fashion, animation, and video games.
The now solo artist has collaborated with numerous renowned clients and publications, such as HBO, Chanel, Dior, Nike, Estée Lauder, Swarovski, Carolina Herrera, Maybelline, Diesel, i-D, and Interview Magazine and world-recognized celebrities such as Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Emma Stone, and Michael B. Jordan. In 2018, his work for Vogue Mexico featured Yalitza Aparicio, making her the first Indigenous woman to ever be on the cover.
By utilizing groundbreaking visual techniques, Santiago’s natural gift is his ability to execute projects across various industries and platforms, thus bridging the gap between fashion, beauty, branded content, and entertainment. In his own words, “I believe the world is waking up to deeper understandings on how we can evolve and live more connected and at peace with nature. At the same time, the stakes have never been higher, the risks are immense and the challenges seem impossible.”
Currently, Santiago splits his time between New York City and his native Mexico City.
