Michael Showalter first got his start as a founding member of the sketch comedy troupes The State and Stella, and well as co-writing and staring in the now classic film, Wet Hot American Summer.

Michael just wrapped principal photography on “Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies” starring Jim Parsons and Sally Field for Focus Features. His recent credits include Apple TV limited series “The Shrink Next Door” starring Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd, and the upcoming series “The Dropout” created by Liz Meriwether starring Amanda Seyfried for Hulu. Michael’s film “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” starring Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield premiered at Toronto Film Festival 2021. Prior to that Michael directed “The Lovebirds,” an action-comedy starring Kumail Nanjiani and Issa Rae, which premiered on Netflix in May 2020. Other directing credits include the Oscar-nominated film “The Big Sick” as well SXSW Audience Award winner “Hello My Name Is Doris” which he also co-wrote.

He is the co-creator of the HBOMax series “Search Party.” Michael directed the pilot and serves as an executive producer for the upcoming Showtime series “I Love This For You” starring Vanessa Bayer, Molly Shannon and Jenifer Lewis. He also serves as an executive producer on the series “In the Dark” created by Corinne Kingsbury and with his producing partner Jordana Mollick, helms Semi-Formal Productions producing film and television.
