Karen Cunningham has established a reputation for her transformative storytelling talent, ability to get great performances from her cast, and her award-winning work with clients as diverse as UNICEF, Barbie, Nivea, Liverpool FC, and Kellogg’s.
Cunningham won three ‘Best New Director’ awards, a Silver Arrow, and Kinsale Sharks and Eurobest awards for her first film – ‘Wonderful World’ – which she wrote and directed for the Half Moon Theater company, a charity that represents underprivileged children. As well as establishing a career as a top director, Cunningham has used her voice to talk about the lack of female and under-represented directors.
Her work has been recognised by a Silver Lion at Cannes, and her ‘Imagine the Possibilities’ campaign for Barbie was ranked 60 in the Top 100 ads of all time by The Drum, while her Nivea ad was shortlisted for Ad of the Year at the TV Visionary TV Arts awards 2023.
