About

Matt Lambert is a filmmaker and photographer whose gripping, sensual work across narrative film, experimental documentary, music, video, and fashion has found worldwide acclaim. A Los Angeles native living in Berlin, his craft is colored by his formal training in fine arts and animation.

Tribeca Film Festival named Matt one of ten filmmakers of the future and Dazed put him on their list of top 100 creative influencers of 2015. Selected clients include Gucci, Givenchy, Rick Owens, Patrick Wolf, Hercules and Love Affair, Austra, Marc Jacobs, Mykki Blanco, and Stefano Pilati. His work has been featured on Channel 4 UK and BBC and in publications such as Dazed, Fader, and Vogue. In 2016, Matt represented PRETTYBIRD at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity panel “Make Some Room,” a collaboration with SapientNitro that discussed the entertainment industry’s lack of inclusion and access.

Matt has a gift for spearheading delicate and moving music videos, focusing on powerful topics such as gender inclusion, diversity, and sexual identity. His most awarded work, a long-form music video for Mykki Blanco’s “High School Never Ends,” screened at the 2017 SXSW Film Festival and was shortlisted at the CICLOPE Festival, nominated for two UKMVAs, and won “Best Cinematography in a Music Video” at the Camerimage Festival.

On the branded side, he has worked with global clients including Nike, Calvin Klein, Sephora, SKYN, Gucci, and Adidas. He teamed with Stefano Pilati to creative direct all film content, including the live stream footage for the launch of Pilati’s fashion brand “Random Identities.”

In addition to filmmaking, Matt maintains an immense love for fine art photography —particularly that which spotlights queer intimacy — which he often channels for his work in the world of fashion. Matt contributed a number of his photographs to “The Body Is An Instrument” benefit exhibition at the Tom of Finland Foundation. The series presents work from a number of emerging, established, and influential queer artists to demonstrate the interconnected nature of art, sex, and science.

Currently, Matt Lambert is working on his first feature film and acting as the artistic director of Singular Arts Group — an artist management company representing Mykki Blanco, Patrick Wolf and Finn Ronsdorf — as well as the co-founder of queer, xxx content studio, Vitium.
