Siblings Sophie and Walker Cole, known as THE COLES, are an award-winning directing duo whose filmmaking combines a strong visual point of view with humanity, nuance, and a sense of play. Inspired by surrealism and conceptual filmmaking, their work often explores interesting characters in left-of-center situations that gently push up against the bounds of reality while evoking genuine human emotion.
Sophie and Walker were born in Manhattan and grew up in Connecticut, where they were raised in an advertising and filmmaking family. Prior to directing, Sophie worked in fashion and costume design and Walker as an art dealer. After many years of wanting to work together, they finally found themselves collaborating on a film project, which marked the beginning of their partnership as THE COLES.
