Nono Ayuso’s journey into filmmaking was anything but ordinary. Born in Spain and now based in London, he first traveled the world as an investigative journalist, covering conflict zones—an experience that shaped his deeply human approach to storytelling.
Since stepping behind the camera in 2018, he quickly earned a Vimeo Staff Pick for his short film The Heartbeats of Memory, which was also shortlisted for the Cannes Young Directors Award. Nono has made a name for himself through bold, emotional work. His short films and music videos have earned awards at Cannes, Clios, UKMVA, and Shots. His Naija Odyssey campaign for WhatsApp (as part of the directing duo Nono+Rodrigo) —telling the origin story of NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo—was widely acclaimed, now streaming on Amazon Prime.
Passionate about blending striking visuals with raw emotion, he has directed campaigns for UPS, Ford, Lufthansa, Lexus, and Heineken, working with icons like Coco Gauff, Sean Bean, Justin Bieber, Joy Crookes, and Paul Pogba. His latest Lexus film is a poetic love letter to tennis, capturing the sport’s beauty with his signature cinematic style.
