About

Susanna Fogel is an Emmy-nominated, DGA Award-winning director and writer known for sharp, character-driven storytelling that blends humor, tension, and emotional intelligence across film and television.

She won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series for her work on The Flight Attendant and received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for the same episode, cementing her as a standout voice in premium television. Additional television work spans genres and platforms, including the 2026 Peacock series Ponies, which she created, co-wrote, and directed. She has also directed episodes of the Emmy-nominated miniseries A Small Light for Nat Geo, Prime Video’s Utopia, Apple TV+’s Amazing Stories (executive produced by Steven Spielberg), and the pilot for Prime Video’s The Wilds.

Fogel first garnered international acclaim as the co-writer of Booksmart, earning BAFTA and Writers Guild nominations for the critically celebrated coming-of-age comedy. In 2025, she directed and co-wrote the comedic biography Winner, based on the life and arrest of whistleblower Reality Winner. She also adapted and directed Cat Person, based on the viral “Cat Person” essay published in The New Yorker. The film, starring Emilia Jones and Nicholas Braun, premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. Additional credits include directing and co-writing the studio action-comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me, starring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon, as well as the indie feature Life Partners, developed at the Sundance Lab.

In addition to her screen work, Fogel is an accomplished author and satirist. Her debut novel, Nuclear Family, was published by Macmillan.
